A Good Friday
Having a very good Friday here. The weather held just long enough to spend most of the day at the San Diego Rugby Invitational at the Polo Grounds. Caught three games, two of which featured Cal, and the other being the Cal Poly – Navy matchup in the posted photo. Great event, lots of fun and entertaining even for someone with a pretty minimal knowledge of rugby like myself. Eye candy, naturally, and a fun time with the alums as always.
Also got to see the return of Ellen in the latest Battlestar, which was verrry interesting, even if it raised more questions than it answered at this point, and am giddy as a schoolgirl for the debut of Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse, which comes on in about 45 minutes. Tonight’s about the geeking.
And yes, just to rub it in, I do have plans for Valentine’s Day tomorrow. Dinner and whatnot.
… And I Approved This Frackin Message
While I still like MacGyver for President, it’s nice to see some new entrants into the race: the Tigh / Roslin ticket.
While I respect Strength and Purpose, and understand that POW status is essential to modern leadership, it seems to me that the ability to fix all kinds of problems with only a paper clip and a roll of duct tape could be beneficial given the ongoing deficits and the general state of the economy.
More Old TV Made New
The second telling of Battlestar is coming to an end, and the tenth Doctor might be taking 2009 off, but The Prisoner’s coming back! Creepy sci fi spy stuff as only the Brits can do it! Yea for quality television!
Sitting Around Being Mindlessly Entertained
New, to me at least, Doctor Who on SciFi. I know this was the Christmas special in the UK a few months back (over the holidays, duh) but I didn’t catch it until last night. Wasn’t that impressed after all the hype of the Doctor’s holiday specials over the years, but I did like the bit with the Queen and her puppies evacuating London.
New Battlestar (awesome episode) on Friday. Loved the airlock scene.
Caught Forgetting Sarah Marshall at a matinee Saturday. Great movie. Loved that they didn’t try and rehabilitate the Kristen Bell characater and instead just kept bringing out more and more reasons to detest her, and really loved the puppets. I’m not sure I would have appreciated that part as much if I hadn’t seen Avenue Q last summer, but it worked for me yesterday and that’s what counts.
Season finale of Torchwood last night. This season kind of meandered a bit, and without spoiling things too much, the ending will hopefully lead to an opportunity to get it back on track. Also, JACK’S EVIL BROTHER!! I think that’s all I’ll say about him here.
Catching My Breath
Still letting the mind digest last night’s return of Battlestar, and trying to sort out some thoughts from attending this morning’s taping of KPBS’ Envision San Diego. Both are taking a back seat though to catching some quality naptime with Diego and being psyched for tomorrow’s Crew Classic.
