Changes?
Not much here – the recent neglect of the written word will continue for the foreseeable future.
The photo gallery, however, where I’ve been much more active, is overdue for some changes. The software I’ve been using just received it’s first update in over a year, and that update seems to have created more problems than it solved.
And while I would prefer to self-host because I’m kind of a control freak, modern digital photography involves files that are much larger than when I started, and while I appreciate the occasional linkee-love, big crowds tend to drag down all my sites to the point of requiring reboots, and I really don’t need the aggravation.
So, expect some changes, and maybe even a couple of trial and error fits over the next few weeks. Currently giving SmugMug and Photoshelter the once over, but open to suggestions. Our upcoming trip to Sedona should be the perfect change to road test some finalists and then see where things go from there.
Copied over a set of photos from our November trip to Colorado to test out Smugmug as an alternative platform (with a free trial). They’re at howlingpoint.smugmug.com
