Today makes eleven years since that first tenative post on Blogger. It wasn’t even Howling Point back then, but a free site with my then-host, Earthlink.

Happy to still be here even if the output is more photos than words these days. I know that fewer and fewer of you come by and see the site these days, relying on aggregators and social media reposts to get your content, but still appreciate the fact that you’re interested in what I post no matter how you see it (though the banners on the site itself still rock).

Just realized I will turn 50 on Mardi Gras 2014.  That gives someone about 22 months to plan a party worthy of the convergence.

While Diego rips to shreds what he thinks is the ear of that special bunny, here’s some Easter cute.

Randy and I were discussing Disney and Easter decorations yesterday, and tried to name all the rabbits in the Disney universe (as an alternative to dressing up the mouse in fake ears).  We came up with:

• Oswald.
• Thumper.
• Rabbit (friend of Pooh).
• The White Rabbit (timekeeper of Alice).
• March Hare.
• Roger Rabbit.
• Br’er Rabbit.

Did we miss any?

Just read the scary press release on California’s Judicial Council decision to stop their planned new case management system.  No budget means no new system – I can understand that, and look disapprovingly at what passes for a legislature in modern California.  The courts are tied to the same process that funds education, and being married to a teacher I understand the stresses there too.  I’ve no illusions that any aspect of state-funded government in California is in any better shape these days.  It does leave open the question though of what the courts are going to do without their precious new case management system.  My unfortunate experience is that San Diego County courts are already in the position where documents regularly don’t make it to the correct files,.

Besides talk of salvaging bits of a system that they can no longer afford to buy, it would be nice to hear if someone has some kind of plans to get the administrative side of the state courts actually functioning again, even if it has to be with paper files and the suction tubes running documents around the building.

The annual Crew Classic in Mission Bay is in a little over a week.

In previous years I would’ve been all excited by now.  Cute rowers and alumni fanboy stuff, all with great snacks.  Now the finals are in the morning instead of after lunch, and the demon alcohol is banished to special areas by Nanny Diego.  Last year I missed the finals while waiting for Randy to fly home from a judging gig, and this year I’m just kinda feeling ‘meh’ about the whole thing.  I’ll probably go, but having trouble getting excited about it, and probably open to other offers (hint, hint).
