Sometimes the right thing to do is push the piles of work aside and get outside for a bit. Fresh air and all that.

Despite my propensity for puppy pictures, today found us at the Wild Animal Park on the first birthday of a group of lion cubs. So today you get kitty vids.

While it was fascinating to watch them all with their birthday treats, it wasn’t even the best part of the visit. The best part was a herd of California Mule Deer in the back of the park between the elephant and tiger areas. The deer aren’t officially ‘on display’ but just kind of live in the neighborhood and sometimes stroll in the less touristy areas. I’ve previously stumbled on one playing a bit of cat-and-mouse with a local coyote. Today some were lounging, some were wandering, and they were all very relaxed, at least until some loud tourists came around the bend. I understand how they feel.
