Holy Smokes!
We finally caught The Dark Knight at a matinee today. Wow, did that live up to its hype. The only negative I’d mention would be to echo Kyle’s review that it seemed to be a movie and a quarter.
While Heath Ledger’s performance was as brilliant as the hype has it, I think more of the suspense came for me from the anticipation of the tragedy of Harvey Dent. As with Anakin Skywalker before him, it’s tough watching a character and growing to like a character when you have certain knowledge about what a character’s going to become.

Helpful review. Too bad I’m a sociopath who refues to go to movie theaters. Will just have to wait for Netflix…
It was nice to see a “superhero comic” film with actual characterization too.
I really wish we’d seen more of Harvey. Like, maybe in the first movie, too. Surprisingly, Gyllenhall stepped right into Katie Holmes’s shoes (again, I’m wishing she’d been in both.)
I felt let down at the end of the movie, though. Like, ok, now where can they go from here?
Kip – I’m with you on theaters, and will admit we saw it at a morning matinee with maybe 10 people in the theater, but this is one of those movies that needs a big screen and theater sound.
Giga – I’m with you on Gyllenhall. Of the two actresss to handle that role I think she did the far better job.
