Keep The Hand Out Of The Glove
“U.S. companies must hold the line and not work hand in glove with the secret police.“ Representative Chris Smith, R, New Jersey.
Unfortunately that statement does not concern congressional debate about the White House proposal to indemnify the Telecoms that conspired to create the great Terr’rist Surveillance Program, but what assistance Yahoo gave to Chinese law enforcement agencies in their own investigation into a leak of “state secrets.”
Apples and oranges, because one is red and one is…whatever.
One thing they do have in common? Everyone seems to lie to Congress about their spy programs. Maybe witnesses would take their oaths seriously if they actually charged someone with perjury when it happens. Just sayin.
Hopefully Yahoo will hire Alberto Gonzeles to defend them in the hearings; he’s recently available, has extensive experience in this area of law, and makes for good laughs.
