Run Jamie Run
After watching the second episode of the reimagined Bionic Woman I’m standing by my earlier post. The series has potential.
This episode was different from the pilot. Jamie Sommers showed spirit. It definitely confirmed the impression that the pilot was rushed, both in production standards and fitting it in a timeslot. I think that if they’d produced a two- or four-hour pilot that showed not just the technical aspects of a bionic woman but laid out the groundwork of a story with plot and motivations and interpersonal relationships they would have had an unbeatable series, much like Battlestar was in its first, and arguable second, years.
All I can do now is say the second episode gave me hope that this will be a series worth following at least until the show’s producers decide which path they’re taking: quick profit off some 1970s nostalgia keywords, or a good, solid show that got a boost from name recognition.

Following Up:
Interesting to see that the Bionic Woman’s ratings fell 30% between weeks one and two, though I don’t see the connect one reviewer made to the second episode being the disaster. I think it reinforces the thought that the pilot had serious shortcomings and in a strong field viewers chose to explore other options.
