Come home from dinner to find an unusual message on the home answering machine.  The ‘bot from one of the county lock-ups called asking if we want to accept a collect call from one of their guests.  Unfortunately, the ‘bot must have started talking while our machine’s outgoing message was still playing, so we have no idea which of our friends/clients/contacts/disavowed ex’s was trying to reach us, or whether it was simply a wrong number.  A return call to the number on Caller ID wouldn’t go through, and there was nothing on the law practice’s line. 

Short telephone roll call of the important friends (hello, are you in jail?) and quick checks on the Sheriff’s website for the usual suspects didn’t identify anyone terribly important, so I hope it was just a wrong number.  If not, and you happen to access this site from East County Detention, please drop us a note in the comments.  We probably can’t help with bail, but you’re welcome to our leftover holiday candy if it will help make your stay more enjoyable.
