Morning rant
Professionally I take on a limited number of family law cases, quite frankly, because they’re good money. Parents pay well when their kids are at stake. Every now and then though, I regret the money (even though Pongo really likes the treats) when I make a mistake and take on the wrong client.
If all these groups that claim to want to block gay marriage for the sake of the children are really interested in the welfare of the children, why can’t they please, please, incorporate some kind of a testing program into the state-issued breeding licenses? An emotional maturity test would be a nice start, though literacy, or at least a commitment to stay ahead of the child’s reading level through sixth grade or so would also be a big plus. Especially if their communicate with their attorney by e-mail.
So much for the rant – personally it’s all OK as long as they retain the math skills to balance their checkbooks when they have to call me in to hold their hands. I’m just thinking that other skills might be better if the well being of the children is really the priority.
And now you all can guess why Pongo and I were hiding in the park this morning. Squirrels take your mind off things.
