Just maybe
Maybe, just maybe, since the President is saying that a man in U.S. custody was conspiring to commit thousands of murders, not to mention alter the L.A. skyline, we could get together and do that lawyer-thing, ya know, hold a trial. We’d have to keep “trial lawyers” out of the process, since they’re evil and greedy. Judges too, because they’re activists. Im sure they could come up with something. Maybe using actors who’ve played lawyers and judges on TV. Just so that twelve people not on Bush’s payroll could say whether this is true and supported by evidence, or just a lot of hot air to create anxiety and save his pet wiretapping program. Just maybe.

I believe you may have overstated the Bush characterization of trial lawyers. While he has repeatedly declared us to be the cause of most of the problems in our society and has probably called us “greedy” at times, I do not recall him specifically designating us as “evil” — yet.
As you are aware our President is extremely careful in his use of words. I take some solace in the fact that I and other trial lawyers have not been classified by him as “evil.”
By the way, it is comforting to know that we are blessed with a leader who is able to detect and define “evil” — this talent is what has allowed him to chart his administration’s course in a world that is obviously composed of just two camps: “good” and “evil”.
