Breakfast, Bears and Bright Colors
Had to get out this morning just to stop climbing the walls, but our extended June gloom has kept the coast foggy, and with ComicCon in town I didn’t want to go anywhere near downtown. Ended up at a cool diner one offramp away called Perry’s. Good cheap breakfasts and always a crowd, the mark of a good truck stop, and I don’t eat there nearly enough.
Then down to the zoo. I like my bears and puppies, so I watched both for a while. Sun Bears, Brown Bears and Spectacled Bears were all out and the African Wild Dogs stuck their heads up enough for some pictures. I think I was the only Golden Bear around, but sometimes we’re hard to spot.
On a related geek note, I’ve been very happy with the photo gallery. The drain on my bandwidth hasn’t been nearly what I feared (or my inflated ego said I should fear) and the feedback and comments have been great. Interesting to note though the wide discrepencies in the viewed photos. This shot of the poor Indian Gharail (a type of crocodile) at the zoo, admittedly a fairly ugly animal, hasn’t been viewed once since it was posted in May. On the otherhand, y’all seem to like brightly colored aquatic mammals a lot. And I was reminded just yesterday that we’re still number one for “red headed surfer” on Google. So I guess what I should be learning from the indirect feedback is to use more bright colors, a la National Geographic’s “red shirt school” of photography from the 1950s.

Run to the San Diego Comic Con and go to the Transformers booth and get me a free Skywarp figure then go to the Dreamworks booth and get me the free TF pins they are handing out!
So much more productive than zoos and bears and things.
Wouldn’t that make me what the twelve-steppers call an enabler? Oh well, wouldn’t be the first time. Too late today but I’ll see if I can get down there tomorrow.
Sorry Nala. No excuses – it just didn’t happen.
