Nice weekend
It’s been a great weekend. Lunch and some tourism with the parents yesterday for Mother’s Day. Experimented with the camera a bit to get some shots yesterday evening of the San Diego skyline for someone else’s website. If he uses any of the shots I’ll be sure to blow my own horn here, but while I was really happy with the results, I’ll only post this one for now.
And then today has just been relaxation. Brunch. The New York Times. Sand between the toes while playing with the camera for my personal interests. Despite the posted notice on the water quality in Imperial Beach (my second sand/toes stop of the morning) there were surfers out and having quite a good time. I found a comfy rock on the jetty, sat down and burned through most of a memory card watching the action.
I was also thinking that I haven’t done much in open water myself in over a year. Between fatigue and the trashed immune system while I was going through radiation it just wasn’t a smart thing to be doing, so I threw myself into lap swimming for exercise. Even now that my health is back [knocking viciously on wood] I’ve generally been sticking with photographing the action rather than playing myself. The change from self-employment to M-F/9-5 minion status probably has something to do with it also – beaches here just get too crowded for me when school’s out. I’ll have to make certain I take all the gear with me on my vacation next month. There are lots of places up the coast without the crowds, and I will have some weekdays free.
