Dog owner education
Great post by Jhames [via Swerdloff] on a possible way to educate dog owners on why leashes are a really good idea. Keyword: tazer.
Let’s face it: some dog owners can’t or won’t accept responsibility for their own negligent acts. They’re just stupid and given the ages of those I see around here, probably untrainable by traditional methods. Maybe Jhames’ unconventional approach would let some training sink in.
On a related note, at least providing added fuel for this rant, the dog that mauled Pongo in May was transferred to a third-party over the summer who had a yard. This happened shortly before the deadline that would have required the dog to be put down since the owners couldn’t or wouldn’t meet the county restrictions for housing a dangerous dog. It was far away, so I was satisfied.
Then the neighbors that had owned the Rottweiler moved out of the apartment complex. Again, they were going far away and I was satisfied.
Then I heard that they had moved out of the state and they were claiming the dog had coincidentally died in a car accident at about the same time, but that no body or witnesses were available.
So, for those of you in the Southeast, just think you’d like to know that a Rottweiler who’s bitten at least two people and three dogs in the last two years may be coming to a neighborhood near you. Don’t worry about the owners: they know how to yell she’s friendly and the woman has a good job that let’s her pay med bills that come up.
Are you rethinking Jhames’ tazer proposal yet? Is it supposed to be high voltage-low amps or low voltage-high amps? I can never keep it straight, and I probably don’t want to cause permanent damage.

For my money, you can never have enough voltage.
