Wow. The day is starting off great and may have potential. Good new coffee (Costa Rican from a local place I decided to try) and a very nice workout with the pool all to myself (yes, I’m greedy and self-centered). Next on the little calendar – downtown for research and some law office management stuff.

Chuckie gets his treat at Ghirardelli, Pongo gets his hand delivered. Yes, the little dog is is Pavlovian ecstasy having scarfed all three special treats caringly hand-carried by two loving people all the way from the arctic wastelands of Alaska. The look says thanks even if the thought isn’t vocalized.

Fresh homemade guacamole: Good stuff
Fresh homemade guacamole:
Good stuff of two ripe avocados.
Juice of one lemon.
Lotsa (a prechopped handful) fresh cilantro, chopped well.
Three or four green onions, chopped well.
Salt (1 t?)
Black pepper (1 t?).
Tobasco (four or five good shakes).
Mush it all up, but leave it kinda chunky.
Our commitment to public service has now been fulfilled.

Monday isn’t sucking.
Very good workday (details between me and my client) involving a roadtrip to Orange County. Incredibly beautful weather. Munching corn chips smothered with fresh homemade guacamole. Checking the news and the blogs. Very happy with the Dow. Our local index, the Pongo 2, also performed very well today.

Hazards of self-employment. While the flextime of self-employment/solo practice can be wonderful, the health hazards are not fully documented. After doing the admin stuff at the office, conditions at Torrey Pines looked too good not to stop. Exactly the type of emergency for which I keep a bodyboard and wetsuit in the truck. Had a great time on the water, then pulled on some shorts and lay down on the beach to read “for a few minutes.” Of course, I promptly fell asleep. My backside makes a lobster look pale. I guess I need a paralegal to handle my sunscreen requirements, or at least to page me every hour so I can roll over. Maybe the bar can put together some CLE on this practice management topic to help others avoid this problem.
